Producing buildings that have a popular public appeal, whilst bearing no contradiction to the progressive culture of the early twenty-first century, Hopkins Architects consistently produce award winning designs. The practice comprises approximately 100 people, and has three partners - the founders and RIBA Gold Medal laureates Michael and Patty Hopkins, and Bill Taylor - who collectively oversee all aspects of the practice in monthly strategic meetings and frequent informal discussions.Design is at the heart of the practices organisation. Michael Hopkins leads all design teams with one other director or project director. Hopkins Architects will held design reviews and bring input from across the office to ensure the highest standard of design, and to take advantage of cross-fertilisation from different projects. Its design teams call on leading engineering and cost control consultants for specialist advice, and external feedback on the projects comes from regular reviews in the professional press, and specialist monitoring studies such as BREEAM. These procedures are the core of their Quality Assurance procedure, which experience has shown to be more effective for specialist business than schemes like BS 5750 and BS EN ISO 9001. They are sufficiently flexible to integrate with a clients own systems, and this was successfully achieved with London Transport and other organisations.
